Thanks to my friend and Redlands-based photographer, Steve Wormser at Steve Wormser Photography, I had the opportunity to photographs inside the Retting Machine Shop in Redlands California.

Palm Springs City Hall at Night – About the Image

Timing is everything on Facebook, so I'm re-posting this image of Palm Springs City Hall at night, that I posted to my blog (and Facebook) yesterday after I posted the mid-century architectural images, and I thought I'd explain how I made it. I don't have a wide angle lens (yet). So I took this image with my... Continue Reading →

Palm Springs Modernism

My wife and I frequently visit Palm Springs; it's only an hour from our house and it's a fantastic town full of art, culture, food and film with sun-filled skies and a dramatic backdrop of Mount San Jacinto. Palm springs also hosts world-class architecture and modernism revival that's unparalleled. This weekend was the end of Modernism Week, a... Continue Reading →

Route 66

I just read that the President is designating Mojave Trails National Monument today. The new monument will be 1.6 million acres and link Joshua Tree National Park with the Mojave Preserve, and will include Route 66 from Needles to Ludlow. Kenya

In 2010 I had a chance to visit Kenya. Though my visit was short, Kenya had a profound affect on me. I met some of the nicest people I had ever encountered and shared wonderful experiences in a beautiful region that deeply captivated and infected me. I hope to return there soon.

Prospect Park, Feb 2016

Whenever I get a few minutes to take some photos during my workweek, one of my go-to places is Prospect Park. I had a little time on Friday afternoon and thought I'd head to the park and see where it took me.

Living Desert, Feb 2016

My wife and I are members and frequent visitors of the Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA. Like other zoos every visit is different. Even though I've seen these animals many times, there's always a new way to capture or interpret them. Sometimes you catch animals that were sleeping on previous visits, on a day when they're... Social Networks and Ecological Food Webs

I read an interesting recent article that discussed a digital "autopsy" of the social network Friendster. Friendster was the grandfather of the social network, preceding both MySpace and Facebook. At its peak it had over 100 million users and a $30 million buyout offer from Google (which they turned down). However, following some technical problems and a... Continue Reading →
